The Rite of the River

The rite of the river by holly Roxanne is a coming of age music film exploring themes of womanhood, community, water cycles and a return to the wild.
The river ran red is the first for four part film series - The rite of the river - that explores the cycles of the women journey.
These first images tells the maidens tale, the maiden is the daughter, the virgin, the first bleed.
Reared in a Society that has lost much of its knowledge of the rites of passage and rituals she can sometimes feel a bit lost.
Riven ran red is a cry for the maidens song, a homecoming. A prayer to remember our bodys as earth bodys and ourselves as the guardians of something sacred. Women is water, like water we carry the memories of the motherline, Like the river we connect all things, like rain we nourish the earth.

Terri and Holly have been working in collaboration creating visuals, photography and ritual. working through the roots of a deep initiation channeling the mystical beings who have come through to bring this project into matter.
This butterfly god is made with collage and paint, she looks over the women is a state of peace, presence and protection. She is of this world and otherworldly, with the double wings of a bluebird and butterfly she reminds us of our shapeshifting nature, the freedom we are in essence and expansive possibilities of our internal and external landscape.

Butterfly pollinates the souls of the earth.
This is the translator of the instinctual,
the fertilizing force, the mender,
the rememberer of old ideas.
She is La voz mitológica, the Mythic Voice.”
